4th of July Parade

I spent the 4th in Northern Michigan, covered about 1,400 scenic miles in my new Smart Car, including driving in the town of Glen Arbor, MI’s 4th of July Parade. We walked on the beaches of Lake Michigan, saw deer running across the dawn dunes, had a ‘ducky’ race with the kids in the river and even learned how to ‘bagel roll’ with our friends (a Homestead tradition)…

This is the essence of cottage living. Lazy days, friends and food, early nights, star tracking and s’mores by the fire. A boat ride here, a bike ride there and a nature hike in between to shake of the extra calories from the Cherry pie. Speaking of which, the Traverse City, MI cherry Festival was about to begin and for the entire day of Thursday the Blue Angels practiced in the skies just above the treetops of town.
