This from one of our readers… I’ve been waiting for a reason to use this photo too
(I don’t know if its real??)!
“Bob,
Below is an article my business partner wrote about how her family spent Thanksgiving in their Las Vegas condo hotel last November. Thought it might fit in well with “what is your most amazing 48 hours at your vacation home?” from your last posting.
Thanks,
Branden Lewis

Thanksgiving 2007
Below is a brief anecdote of how one family enjoyed their Thanksgiving vacation in
The MGM Signature condo hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. By Donna Boschert of Condo Hotel Marketplace
Tuesday.
10:30 am. Two days prior to Thanksgiving. Flying out in 7 hours to Las Vegas. Taking the family to The MGM Signature for our first Thanksgiving in our new home away from home. Menu planning begins. Make a grocery list and make note of recipes not already memorized. Need to research sweet potatoes. Never made them in my life. Pack up all required spices in ziploc bags and pack in luggage. (Cuts down length of grocery list!) Pack new mixer bought especially to leave at The Signature for all future cooking/baking needs.
5:30 pm. Depart St. Louis for Las Vegas. Spices and new mixer secure in checked luggage. Review grocery list and recipes during 3 hour flight. Nothing to add, everything looks perfect, no deletions, no additions necessary.
Wednesday.
8:00 am. Need to get to grocery store before all turkey breasts are sold. Leave time for the possibility of not finding key ingredients and having to shop more than one store.
9:15 am. Retrieve rental car from Valet at The Signature. Valet gives me directions to closest grocery store. Two right turns and one left and we are there!
9:25 am. Arrive at major grocery store. Directions were excellent! Uh oh. Just realized I left my detailed grocery list back at the condo. Decide to shop from memory. Huge gamble, but this is VEGAS baby!
10:50 am. Arrive back at The Signature with a trunk full of groceries. Now comes my very favorite part…Valet attendant not only takes keys to park car but starts unloading groceries for me!
10:57 am. Hotel employee arrives at our unit with all groceries. He unloaded cart full of groceries, even offered to put them away for me! While assisting with groceries he even gave us directions to a new mall that opened the week before. Everyone is so helpful!
11:20 am. After putting all groceries away decided to cross check with grocery list. Forgot mini marshmallows (those darn sweet potatoes!) and blueberries for cheesecake. Not bad considering my grocery list was two pages long.
12:05 pm. Fix nice lunch for family before leaving for day of shopping and sight seeing.
6:10 pm. Spot a Super Walmart and purchase mini marshmallows and blueberries. Now I can go home and relax. I’m set for tomorrow.
Thanksgiving Day:
9:30 am. Fix family a huge breakfast so they can skip lunch and let me prepare feast for later! Fried bacon and ham, hashed brown potatoes, scrambled eggs, toast, juice, and coffee. Didn’t even charge the family for their very own breakfast buffet! Kids cleaned kitchen while cook relaxes in jacuzzi tub before starting preparations for dinner!
11:00 am. Family splits up and some go shopping, some head to the pool, and some go to the Casino. All is informed of dinner time and decide to meet up later to check on cook and progress of biggest turkey breast known to man.
11:30 am. After family clears out cook prepares cheesecake. Bakes cheesecake while preparing turkey breast for oven.
12:40 pm. Cheesecake exits oven and turkey breast takes its place. Side dishes that can be prepared early are completed. All other dishes await their turn in oven.
3:40 pm. Mashed potatoes are prepared and rolls are baked. Turkey sliced. Drinks poured. All family members return for dinner and are all pleasantly surprised when stepping off the elevator. They could smell the turkey and all the homecooking awaiting them! Turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes (for daughter), mashed potatoes (for son), green bean casserole, gravy, rolls, and cheesecake with blueberry topping. The MGM may have Wolfgang and Emeril but The Signature has MOM cooking!!!
4:00 pm. Family enjoys best Thanksgiving dinner ever!
You may notice a gap of a few hours while the turkey was cooking. The cook used this time to relax with a few glasses of wine on the balcony, enjoying the warm weather and the peace and quiet of owning a Condo Hotel on the Vegas Strip. Not only do you have all the amenities of Vegas at The Signature but you also have all the amenities of home. The shopping, the restaurants, the casinos, the shows, and the weather are spectacular but when enjoying Vegas with friends and family it’s nice to have a place large enough to relax and cook your own meals too.
Enjoy the holidays and all your days in a Condo Hotel. This cook is so spoiled she may never settle for an ordinary hotel room again! And I know the family will always remember our FIRST Thanksgiving in Vegas!
