Waiting for The Banks to Lend?
“Somebody else will fix it“
Have you spent the last 19 months waiting for someone else to start lending again? All that Government stimulus will trickle down into your business. The great wave of capital will tumble into the market, buoying all ships. Risk takers will generate jobs again, soon. Yes, all this may happen, maybe it already is happening. But, how much ‘control’ do you really have in any of these scenarios?
Control means everything. When you can control an outcome, you can succeed. Business owners know the difference 1% can make, if you own 51% and I own 49%, you have control. A simple thought in a complex time.
Q: Where will the money come from to turn the markets around? A: From those who control it. Who will decide the winners and losers? Those who have control of the capital.
After 20+ years of residential/consumer lending I have reviewed thousands of personal financial statements and learned that most people’s wealth is in two spots: their home equity and their retirement accounts. Few people are sitting on ‘investable cash’ today. But their retirement funds are mired in mutual funds on which they have little control or influence, many of those funds have billions in cash. While most people are out-of-control financially.
Surprisingly, I only recently learned of an investment vehicle called a “Self Directed IRA” and have transfered my own IRA funds to my control. It allows me to invest directly into assets I know and understand: real estate, mortgage notes, and consumer loans. My IRA gets the benefit of the profits, deferred from taxes. I get more control over the outcome.
Americor/Vacation Finance is a consumer-direct lender to the real estate space, we don’t sell IRAs or investments of ANY sort (insert all applicable legal disclosures here). We will lend, in some cases, to Real Estate IRAs. We believe the real estate markets are grossly undervalued and that opportunities abound for long-term investors. If the gold bugs are right, inflation may be on the horizon, and real estate would be a safe-haven in that storm.
The missing ingredients: Cash and Control.
